I have gotten a few emails asking how people can open a Paypal Account in Nigeria so here is my Ultimate Guide. Its a method I have used myself many times..enjoy.

PayPal is the international online financial money transfer system and is utilized by 1000’s of hundreds of thousands of people all around the world to get and receive money. several years, PayPal in essence just closed Nigeria out because of our notoriety for internet scam. As security factors have increased, scam detection strategies are superior as Nigeria became one of the biggest economies in Africa, Paypal decided to lift the restrictions making it easy to own a Paypal in Nigeria.

Paypal

  1. The first thing you do is to go to www.paypal.com/ng
  2. Click Sign up, either Personal or Business.
  3. Personal is for your personal debit card and business is for your company debit card.
  4. After selecting Personal click continue…you will then see Nigeria from the menu enter your email and password.
  5. Enter in your email address.
  6. Enter in a password make sure you have chosen a password you can remember.
  7. Go to the next page enter your details.
  8. When entering your adress make sure it matches on your card.
  9. It will then take you to a page to fill out your card details
  10. Fill in your card number, expiry and the last 3 digits on the back of the card.
  11. Go to your email account and click on verify
  12. Your account is setup.
  13. You get debited in Naira and you should get an alert from your local bank.

Setting Up a Wallet

First Bank now offers this option with PayPal. How does this work?

  1. Log in to your internet banking account using your password and token
  2. Choose the “PayPal wallet” in the main tab and click “Create PayPal Wallet” on the menu
  3. Select which cards you wish to link to your PayPal account
  4. Create a password in the window.
  5. Click on “agree and create account”.
  6. Go to your registered email account with the bank which confirms that you have created a PayPal account
